Although the retreat allows for plenty of flexibility in scheduling, here is a typical day’s overview:

Los Cardones Surf Lodge is located right on the beach in front of some of the most pristine Nicaraguan surf spots.
Guests can expect to sleep in six beachside bungalows spread out along the coast, enjoying a cool ocean breeze in a private setting of lush vegetation, each with its own terrace, hammocks, and lounge chairs. A spacious beach restaurant offers delicious food and plenty of hammocks for relaxing.
The lodge is operated in the true spirit of ecotourism, striving to maintain a low environmental impact, promote conservation and a sustainable tourism that benefits the community.
Each accommodation is within 20 yards of the ocean. The beach cabanas have a private bathroom with shower and sink and share compost toilets are a short walk away. The stilted bungalows have a private toilet in their bathroom. The cabanas and bungalows do not have electricity. Sky maps are provided for star-gazing.
The restaurant serves gourmet cuisine made with the freshest local products. The house specialty is a fillet of snapper or snook, battered in a Mediterranean sauce and grilled on wood fire.
We care to cater to your taste, offering a variety of specials in addition to our delicious menu. Enjoy our healthy seafood, pizzas, salads, famous tartes.
Fine vegetarian plates are always available, as well as vegan, gluten-free and lactose-free options.
Certified and registered with Yoga Alliance since 2006, Mary Kate’s classes are rich with dynamic instruction, precise alignment, and playful and innovative asana sequences. By taking a class with Mary Kate, you can expect to get stronger and learn optimal alignment in basic to advanced poses. Mary Kate teaches private and public classes and workshops. Several airlines fly to Managua: American Airlines, United, Copa, Taca, and the very cheap Spirit Air. Don’t worry about the odd travel times with Spirit; we can arrange your transportation at any time..

Our address is: Carreterra Montelimar Km 49, 15 Km al Oeste.
It is approximately a 1.5-hr drive from Managua. Please note, a 4WD vehicle may be necessary from May to October.
Take a left on Carreterra Norte as you exit the airport, stay on Carreterra Norte for several miles until you see an 8-feet tall metal sculpture of a worker with a machine gun (past Palacio de La cultura). Make a left. At the first roundabout (Rotonda Plaza Inter) take a right. Go straight through a traffic light and continue until the major intersection (a 4-lane road). Turn left and stay on this road as it takes you out of Managua on Carreterra Sur. Follow the following directions out of Managua
From Managua, take Carretera Sur south. Keep going straight at the Nejapa intersection, you are now on Carretera Vieja Leon (this is the southern road between Managua and Leon). At Km 31, turn left following the signs to Montelimar. You are now on the cobblestone road named Carretera Villa El Carmen-Masachapa. At Km 49 turn right on a dirt road (signs to Finca Del Mar, Gran Pacifica). Follow the signs to Los Cardones (15 Km).
From Granada, the best road is through Masaya, then Managua. In Managua take a left turn at the second round-about (Rotonda Centro America). Drive several miles and straight through the next roundabout (uphill). Continue several miles until the end of the road. At the end of the road take a left turn (going uphill) on Carretera Sur, then follow the directions from Managua.
From Rivas,drive North on the Panamerican Highway. At El Crucero turn left towards Montelimar, drive downhill past San Rafael Del Sur then turn right towards Managua/Santa Rita onto a road with pavers. At Km 49 turn left on a dirt road (signs to Finca Del Mar, Gran Pacifica). Follow the signs to Los Cardones (15 Km).
From Managua, at Mercado Israel in Managua, take the bus to San Cayetano. Buses run daily from 4:00 am to 9:00 pm, every 45 minutes during the week and every 1 hour on the weekends. Stop at California. From California you may hike or try to hitch a ride 15 km to the beach following the signs.
